Sweet Dreams?

Baking.

It is a past time of mine, however; it's not what I thought it would be. A livelihood.

I pictured thumbing through the Martha Stewart cookbook, trying all of her recipes. I wanted to do the same thing Julie did in the hit movie Julie & Julia. I figured that I would make all of Martha's recipes, testing a new one each day and blog about them.

Not. Happening.

I dreamed about opening up my own bakery. Well...there is another negative. Too much overhead. Too many unknowns. Not for me.

Instead I have another sweet dream. Being my own boss. Carving my own path. I want one of those cool coffee cups that say 'Boss Girl.' Well, I want more than the cup. I want freedom. Freedom to choose my schedule. Freedom to choose my family over things I HAVE to do.

Well, I have found something. I will not let on what it is. However, I promise a change is coming.

Day 1: Baking Soda Biscuits

I tried making the Baking Soda Biscuits. They ended up coming out dry. I think I need new cookie sheets. Next up: Cornmeal Muffins.

Day 2: Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits

Day 2: Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits Today  am trying the Buttermilk Biscuits. There is an option to add cheddar cheese to make them Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits...so that's what I will be doing. I went to Michael's today to buy some more baking necessities. Here is what I got: I'm so excited to have some nice stuff. So I began the biscuits and this is how they came out. Not too shabby! They tasted pretty good too. The husband thought they were better than the previous two.

Day 3: Blueberry Loaf

I transformed Martha's muffins into a loaf. I'm still awaiting my husband's taste test. This loaf is special because my son helped me make it. He just found out that he was approved to take culinary in 2nd semester.  Here is the final product.  Look how pretty it is!
