My New Venture

Quitting teaching? Not just yet. Perhaps soon.

I LOVE to write. I didn't realize it until recently. I teach writing every day but what about something slightly different?

I was recently introduced to the world of copywriting. It's not what people initially think either. They think copyRIGHTING...like at the Library of Congress. It's not that at all.

Copy is words. Writing lots of words is copyrighting. There are different mediums that you can showcase your work. Blogs...website content...emails to potential clients. The possibilities are endless.

I am enjoying writing about various topics. It quenches my thirst for learning new things. That is one of the reasons that I went into education - to be a forever learner. However, the field is not what it used to be.

I remember leaving college expecting to change the world. Well, that's not what it is AT ALL. Nowadays, being a teacher is like a business. There are numbers to hit and lots of paperwork to fill out. Students are no longer little people...but a number.

That was never my intent. I wanted to make a difference, not treat the youth of today like a learning factory. That's not to say that I haven't changed a life or two in my years of being an educator...it just means that times are changing and so am I.

I like to reinvent myself every 7 years - or so my Dad says.

Its about that time and I'm so excited about it. Stay tuned...

I tried making the Baking Soda Biscuits. They ended up coming out dry. I think I need new cookie sheets. Next up: Cornmeal Muffins.

Day 2: Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits

Day 2: Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits Today  am trying the Buttermilk Biscuits. There is an option to add cheddar cheese to make them Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits...so that's what I will be doing. I went to Michael's today to buy some more baking necessities. Here is what I got: I'm so excited to have some nice stuff. So I began the biscuits and this is how they came out. Not too shabby! They tasted pretty good too. The husband thought they were better than the previous two.

Day 3: Blueberry Loaf

I transformed Martha's muffins into a loaf. I'm still awaiting my husband's taste test. This loaf is special because my son helped me make it. He just found out that he was approved to take culinary in 2nd semester.  Here is the final product.  Look how pretty it is!
